With many neuro gyms working at limited capacity during a global pandemic, now is the time for all of us to think about ways we can strengthen and improve breathing for people with SCI and other neurological disorders.
Our Speakers
Tommy Sutor, MS, PhD, CSCS, is currently a post-doctoral fellow studying spinal cord injury rehabilitation. Tommy's first experience working with people with spinal cord injuries was as a trainer and Program Director at Push to Walk in New Jersey. After this, he obtained a PhD from the University of Florida, investigating neuromodulatory therapies to improve motor function for people with spinal cord injury at Brooks Rehabilitation in Jacksonville, Florida. He believes that providing intensive exercise to those with paralysis is the best way currently available for people to improve their health, function, and overall quality of life. With this in mind, Tommy has developed a free webinar to introduce respiratory strength training into activity-based training programs for people with spinal cord injuries and other neurological disorders. Tommy is a member of the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine Spinal Cord Injury Fitness and Wellness Task Force and is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Nina Bausek, MSc, PhD is a graduate of University of Vienna. She developed her scientific and leadership skills doing research and the University of Sheffield in the UK.
